
Dr. Nathan Wendell
Topic: Stock Replacement in Saskatchewan (Provincially and in my own operation).
Nathan Wendell is a 3rd generation beekeeper and partner at Wendell Honey Farms based out of MacNutt, SK where the Wendell family has operated for over 80 years. Nathan grew up on the family farm working alongside his mother, father, brother and sister learning about bees and all aspects of the honey farm through his childhood and high school years. Upon graduation Nathan pursued secondary education in the United States, earning an undergraduate, master’s and doctorate degree in clinical psychology. After practicing as a clinical psychologist in Montana and Kentucky for approximately 12 years, Nathan, along with his wife and young family returned to Manitoba to become a partner in Wendell Honey in 2016. Since that time Nathan has acted as a managing partner of Wendell Honey as well as the sales manager for the family’s retail honey brand Wendell Estate Honey.
Wendell Honey farms is a honey production operation with approximately 4200 production hives and 2400 nucleus hives. They have been engaged in selective breeding and queen rearing for the past 30 years and continue to work towards the development of hardy, disease and pest-resistant stock to meet their honey production needs and support the sustainability of their operation.
Nathan joined the Board of the Saskatchewan Beekeepers Development Commission in 2016 and was nominated as president in 2019. He has held this position since that time and was voted into his 5th term as president in December of 2022.
