
Marta Guarna
Dr. Marta Guarna, Research Scientist, Agriculture and Agri-food Canada.
Dr. Marta Guarna is a Scientist with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia and at the University of Victoria. Marta is originally from Argentina and obtained a Ph.D. from New York University before moving to Canada, where she has also worked in the biomedical field. She is a contributing member of the international COLOSS and BeeBiome Consortiums as well as the interdisciplinary BeeHIVE Research Cluster and BeeCSI Consortium. Marta serves as chairperson of the CAPA Research Committee and is a Scientific Advisor for Project Apis m. Her collaborative research combines field and high-throughput laboratory techniques to study bee pathogens, queen health, and the bee microbiome. She is also working on the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on beekeeping.
Marta will share results from blueberry pollination and European foulbrood projects.
